All of a sudden, I saw that exiting off the I-5 at I believe exit 118 would save us some time. Most times, the map told us we were still on the fastest route despite delays. The long drive from Palm Springs to Red Bluff (the first leg of our journey back to Canada) had been made even longer by a series of traffic jams-many, according to Google maps, caused by car crashes. There we were, stuck in bumper to bumper traffic on the I-5 going through Sacramento.
